ABOUT THE COLLOQUIUM

The Colloquium will take place in a hybrid format at the Institute of Language Studies at the State University of Campinas (IEL-Unicamp), with live streaming on the IEL YouTube channel. There will be 19 invited speakers from 8 countries, as well as panels for registered researchers to present their work.

The multiplicity of fields that now engage in dialogue with Alain Badiou's work is consistent with his unique formulation of the relationship between the diversity of conditions and the unity of thought. With this in mind, the International Colloquium on Alain Badiou is dedicated, without thematic restrictions, to fostering a broad dialogue on the relevance of his ideas to contemporary issues.

Application for presentation at the International Colloquium on Alain Badiou

From revisions of Marxism and the political strategies of communism to the dialogue with the still influential French philosophy of the 60s and 70s, from the foundational reference for new formalisms and realisms to the growing presence in militant activity, from dialogues with Lacanian psychoanalysis to developments in artistic thought - the multiplicity of fields now engaging with Alain Badiou's work highlights the importance of a comprehensive consideration of his oeuvre, bringing together debates and themes that relate to it. With this in mind, the International Colloquium on Alain Badiou is dedicated to broad, thematically unrestricted dialogue as an opportunity to reflect on the relevance of his ideas to contemporary issues.


The Colloquium will take place in a hybrid format at the Institute of Language Studies at the State University of Campinas (IEL-Unicamp), with live streaming on the IEL YouTube channel. In addition to the panels featuring the 19 invited speakers, 3 in-person panels will be reserved for presentations by applicant researchers.


Presentations of applicant researchers should last up to 20 minutes, leaving at least 10 minutes for subsequent discussion.


To apply, fill out the form below.The presentation abstract should be no more than 300 words, and the author's bio should be no more than 100 words. Proposals can be sent in English or in Portuguese.


Application is open until March 15, 2025.


Selected researchers will be required to pay a registration fee of R$50.
